About BIC FARMS CONCEPTS
Building Better Ways to Farm in Africa
BIC Farms Concepts is an agribusiness solutions company developing practical, innovative and locally adapted approaches to some of Africa’s agricultural challenges.
BIC Farms Concepts is an agribusiness solutions company developing practical, innovative and locally adapted approaches to some of Africa’s agricultural challenges.
When BIC Farms Concepts was founded in 2006, we began with a question that continues to guide our work:
How can we make advanced agricultural technology practical, affordable and commercially viable in our own environment?
That question shaped an approach that goes beyond simply bringing technologies developed elsewhere into Africa.
We look at the principle behind the technology, the problem it is intended to solve and the realities of the environment in which it will be used. We then determine what needs to be adapted, localized or developed differently to make it work.
Over the years, this approach has taken BIC into greenhouse technology, hydroponics and soilless farming, aquaponics, recirculating aquaculture systems, vertical farming, irrigation, crop production and other areas of modern agriculture.
In 2014, BIC pioneered commercial hydroponics in Nigeria — an important milestone in our continuing work to demonstrate that advanced agricultural technologies can be successfully adapted for local production.
Today, the question remains the same:
How can we make farming work better?
